Sandusky & Lake Erie Shores, OH

Port Clinton Waterfront Run

Google Street View

The lakeshore road in Port Clinton offers a nice opportunity for a short but scenic waterfront run in the Lake Erie Shores area. Port Clinton, located 15 miles west of Sandusky, sits at the mouth of the Portage River on Lake Erie. The go-to run is to start in Waterworks Park, adjacent to downtown. Take the short path to the Port Clinton Lighthouse, and then head west on Rte. 163, crossing the bridge over Portage River. Rte. 163 continues west along Lake Erie, with nice, open water views. There is a decent shoulder and a small sidewalk. After ~2 miles, at the Jacknife Marina, the road curls inland. Retrace your steps to the start.

Add-Ons: There are some nice residential streets for running in Port Clinton, in the area south of Rte. 163 to E State St. and west of Maple St. to Madison St.
