For those who want to run a hill on a non-technical surface, we recommend The Telluride Trail. It’s is the best way up the mountain from the village. From the gondola station in Telluride, the trail climbs up an abandoned ski service road for 1.8 miles, gaining 1,511 feet, to the intersection with the Coonskin Trail. Runners can climb an additional 0.5 miles or so to the top of the San Sophia gondola station. Run down or take the gondola — runner’s choice!
