This is a great big loop around Honolulu’s most iconic landmark, the Diamond Head Volcano. It”s located just south of Waikiki Beach. There are two options here: we’ve mapped a 4.6 mile loop around the perimeter of Diamond Head. There’s also a hilly, challenging run to the summit, which is 1.6 miles roundtrip and a 560 foot elevation gain. Along this run, you’ll see high-end homes, beautiful city parks, surfers on the beaches below, and migrating humpback whales if you’re there at the right time of year.

Loop Route: The loop route has three sections. We start along Paki Ave in Kapiʻolani Regional Park (also option to start downtown). Head south, for a lovely waterfront section in Diamond Head Beach Park, which features great water views. The final section is on a path alongside Diamond Head Rd., making your way back to the park.

Summit Option: For a great workout, add in a visit to the Diamond Head State Monument, which includes climbing the 99 stairs to Diamond Head’s scenic overlooks and the 760-foot summit of Diamond Head, a volcanic tuff cone. Note: Reservations might be required due to the crowds and also the crowds might prevent running!    INFORMATION
