Looking for some fun and friendly competition? Dublin hosts a selection of Parkruns (free group 5ks) throughout the city. Locations include:
Griffith Park. One lap of the park is ~ 3k, on mostly flat ground. Not a Parkrun yet, but could be added. Thanks to Tara Lindsay for this suggestion!

Why is there no parkrun organised in the Phoenix park?
No phoenix park runs?
No parkrun in Phoenix Park as far as we can tell. There’s one in Waterstown Park nearby.

There’s a parkrun in Waterstown Park, which is just west of Phoenix Park. Also a parkrun in Fairview Park.
Are there any park runs on a Sunday?
No they are always Saturday
