This 2,356 acre state park just west of Little Rock is named for the 1,031 foot summit protruding from its center. Trails going up to the peak are steep and technical, so they’re best suited for experienced trail runners. However, there are plenty of other options for running in the park. The 3 mile Base Trail is an easy and gently undulating route which circumvents the base of the Pinnacle as its name suggests. The Kingfisher Trail, though only 0.5 miles long, is a pleasant paved loop that travels through the floodplain of the Little Maumelle River in the shadow of cypress trees. Some of the best views in the park can be found from the trails near the main Visitors Center.
