The Zim Smith Trail is a nearly 9-mile multi-use path that stretches from Ballston Spa to Coon’s Crossing in Halfmoon. The paved trail is a great option for a long, off-road run. The Ballston terminus is located 7 miles south of Saratoga Springs. The trail runs through a combination of open and wooded terrain, and is a slight downhill if starting in Ballston. Heading southward, some interesting spots along the way are Shenantaha Creek Park (2.6 miles) and Round Lake (5.3 miles). There are parking lots at each end of the trail.

Another option in the area is the Ballston Veterans Bike Path, a paved, 3.5 mile multi-use trail. The northern terminus is off Ballston Rd. near Ballston Center, a couple of miles west of the section of the Zin Smith Trail that passes through Shenantaha Creek Park. The southern end of the trail is Carney’s Tavern off Ballston Lake Rd.
