The best running in Fort Worth is using the extensive Trinity Trails system. There are 100 miles of trails along the Trinity River and its tributaries for walking, running, cycling or on horseback. The trail network connects with 31 neighborhoods and 21 parks, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Japanese Garden, Log Cabin Village, Fort Worth Zoo, the historic Stockyards and downtown Fort Worth. There are 17 trailheads located throughout Fort Worth. This trail map is an excellent resource, as is this interactive map. In central Fort Worth, Heritage Park Plaza is a good anchor point, with options to head north or south, or west along the water through several parks. Some favorite sections in central Fort Worth, which can be creatively combined:
Downtown to Rockwood Park. From downtown heading west along the river, it is 1.8 miles to Rockwood Park, and then there’s a nice section in the park paralleling Rockwood Park Dr., for about 2 miles. It’s 4.4 miles one-way from downtown to White Settlement Rd. Can continue even further southwest! ROUTE MAP

Trinity Park to Fort Worth Zoo. Another nice section from downtown is the 1.5 miles heading south along the river in Trinity Park. Take 7th Ave. about 1 mile west to the park and join the trail on the west side of the river. It’s 1.4 miles to the Botanical Garden and 2.1 miles to the Fort Worth Zoo. A trail continues further southwest. You can also do a nearly 3-mile loop right in 250-acre Trinity Park.
University Park Village to Highway 183. Up to 5 miles on riverside multi-use paths from University Park Village/Fort Worth Zoo south to Highway 183. A favorite 3-mile mile section of the Trinity Trails among local run clubs is the route to Press Cafe in Clearfork. ROUTE MAP

Several good running options south of downtown and the I-30, including the Fairmount-Southside Historic District, paths along the Clear Fork Trinity River, and a 3-mile linear park trail from Overton Park to Kellis Park.
Western section of the Trinity Trails system in Fort Worth. One good option is the 2.7 mile trail from Overton Park to Kellis Park. We also like the ~3 miles of trails in the Oakmont Park area.
A run and a dip! Airfield Falls is a popular spot in west Fort Worth. It's 0.4 miles from the trailhead to the waterfalls. From there, continue on multi-use paths along the West Fork Trinity River west to Burger's Lake or east to Rockwood Park, with options for more.
Some good running in the area south of I-820/ east of I-35W: Trinity Trails system from Riverside Park to Quanah Parker Park or Sycamore Park to Cobb Park. Or, trail run through native prairie in Tandy Hills.
In north Fort Worth, the Arcadia Trail Park system is the anchor for 10+ miles of multi-use paths connecting several parks. We've created two routes: Arcadia Trail Park to Buffalo Ridge Park & Arcadia Trail Park North to Barksdale Park, which can be mixed and matched.
