In northwest Topeka, runners will find a cool trail network at MacLennan Park. These stretches of shady singletrack cut through dense forest and offer a variety of running routes. The 2 mile Yellow Trail is the best option for easy running, but there are some hillier routes as well. The 4 mile Red Trail and the 1 mile Green Trail are good intermediate choices. Most routes begin near the Kaw River Boat Ramp.
For more running nearby, head over to the Kansas Museum of History. The Kansas Historical Society Trail is a 1.75 mile loop through forest and field.
The trails can be connected using SW 6th Ave.
