Enjoy a run in Berlin’s oldest park, centrally located on the border between the Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain district. The park, built between 1846 and 1848, features a nice network of landscaped paths around numerous monuments, sculptures and works of art. Create your own  route in this lovely park. It’s easy to do 5-6 km non-overlapping. A loop around the perimeter is nearly 4 km.

Be sure to pass the “Märchenbrunnen” (fountain of fairy tales), dating back to 1913, a splendid structure reminiscent of an early Italian water theatre featuring over 100 stone sculptures, as well as the bronze bust of Frederick the Great, The Peace Bell, and the monuments to the German March Revolution of 1848 and the Spanish Civil War. At the eastern end of the park is more of an ‘athletic’ area with outdoor exercise equipment and sort of a running track.

Add-Ons: Explore the nicer streets of the upscale Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood, west of Friedrichshain and south of 96a road. You can also take Bötzowstraße for ~1 km north to Spielplatz Anton-Saefkow-Park, and then run west for ~2 km through Ernst-Thälmann Park.  Friedrichshain can also be part of or added on to our Berlin Sites tour.
