Rice University is centrally located and has a very pretty 300-acre campus for running. Enjoy walking paths lined with magnificent oak trees, an ivy-covered gate, and lovely buildings. A 2.9-mile dirt trail that goes around the campus is great for running. There’s a running track at Holloway Field (Main St. & University St.)

For a longer run or some variety, there some excellent spots near campus for running:

Hermann Park, just east across Main St.

Brays Bayou, which is just south of and connects to Hermann Park

Nearby Neighborhoods. West University Place, just west of the university, has lovely, tree-lined streets featuring gorgeous homes (we’ve mapped a route from Sunset Blvd. to Mandell to North Boulevard to Morningside to Rice Blvd.). ROUTE MAP. We also love running in the Boulevard Oaks neighborhood, just north of campus. North Blvd. & South Blvd., especially the eastern end, are known for their lovely live oaks and tony homes.
