There’s some nice running in the area of the Brno Reservoir, a dam complex located 10 km west of Brno that’s popular place for swimming and boating. Although there isn’t a loop trail around the entire reservoir, there are some sections of waterfront path or roadside sidewalk.
Reservoir Area. We’ve mapped 8 km of the most suitable running in the reservoir area. From the top of the reservoir closest to Brno, there’s ~2 km of decent running on the west side of the reservoir headed north — partially on roadside sidewalk, and then along a grassy field. Past there, there’s no sidewalk on the road. Along the west side, there’s ~6 km of path — the first 3 km is along the waterfront path, and the last 3 km is more wooded. Note: rolling hills!

Veveří Castle Area. Located a few km west of the reservoir is the 13th-century Veveří Castle, which has restored medieval rooms and features tours. There aren’t really grounds/gardens right at the castle, but there are a couple of decent options for running. Near the castle on the south side of the Svratka River, explore some of the quiet, low trafficked roads off the main 386 Road. Alternatively, cross the Lávka Pod hradem Veveří pedestrian bridge, and run on the trails of the Junák hiking area.

One of our favorite 'runseeing' tours in Europe. Explore the largely pedestrianized old town, Lužánky Park, the grounds of Špilberk Castle, and the hilltop Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul.
Some 10 km of pedestrian & cycle paths along the Svratka River, just south of the centre. We've mapped a southern loop of 6.4 km, and a northern route of up to 7 km one-way. Nearly all off-road.
Many km of running possible along the narrow Svitava River in the eastern part of Brno. Combination of dedicated path & small road. Water views and a good option for a longer off-road run.
Hilly running in the leafy Wilson Forest Park is rewarded by great city views! Combine with Kraví hora Park for a nice ~5.4 km loop, or make it even longer by using the connector path to Špilberk Castle.
Popular recreation spot at the eastern edge of Brno features many km of mainly wooded trails for running. Some easier multi-use paths and some narrower, hillier trails.
Enjoy a wooded trail run in one of Brno's forest parks. There are several significantly sized ones located in the metro area. We've listed some of our favorites. Create your own route! Many of these parks are fairly hilly.
