The Marian Valey (Mariánské údolí), located at the eastern edge of Brno, is a popular recreation spot among locals. In summer, it’s used for hiking, biking, running, and swimming. In winter, there’s skating and X-C skiing. There are remains of old castles and settlements, and some caves that visitors like to explore.
There are many km of mainly wooded trails. Some are paved multi-use paths, and others are more single track cycle trails. There eastern part of the park is hillier. A couple of favorite running spots:
Google Street View
Along the Reservoirs. There’s a paved path headed mainly north from the parking lot along a couple of reservoirs. It’s a pretty path, with some nice views. It’s nearly 4 km one-way, and rolling hills! ROUTE MAP
Paths Headed East. A mainly paved path heads east from the parking lot for ~3 km toward Horákov.
Other Paths. Several km of additional paths, mainly wooded.
Note: Some trails in winter might be used for X-C skiing.

One of our favorite 'runseeing' tours in Europe. Explore the largely pedestrianized old town, Lužánky Park, the grounds of Špilberk Castle, and the hilltop Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul.
Some 10 km of pedestrian & cycle paths along the Svratka River, just south of the centre. We've mapped a southern loop of 6.4 km, and a northern route of up to 7 km one-way. Nearly all off-road.
Many km of running possible along the narrow Svitava River in the eastern part of Brno. Combination of dedicated path & small road. Water views and a good option for a longer off-road run.
Hilly running in the leafy Wilson Forest Park is rewarded by great city views! Combine with Kraví hora Park for a nice ~5.4 km loop, or make it even longer by using the connector path to Špilberk Castle.
Some decent running on waterfront and forested paths at this popular swimming & boating site. At Veveří Castle, enjoy some quiet farm roads, or trail running across the pedestrian bridge.
Enjoy a wooded trail run in one of Brno's forest parks. There are several significantly sized ones located in the metro area. We've listed some of our favorites. Create your own route! Many of these parks are fairly hilly.
