Visit Aberdeenshire

The Deeside Way is a lovely paved long distance path along the “Old Deeside Way,” for 60+ km from Aberdeen west to Ballater. This trail map has excellent detail and breaks the way into four sections, including the 17 km  ‘Aberdeen section’ from from Duthie Park west to Drumoak. It’s a great route to escape the city and get out into the countryside.

We’ve mapped an ~11 km loop incorporating Deeside Way from Duthie Park to Cults, and for variety, using trails directly along the riverbank near Bridge of Dee.

On the Ballater end of the trail, runners can form a loop with the trails of the Cambus O’May forest. The bridge which forms the 12 km Cambus O’May Loop is currently storm damaged, so stick to the 4 km Pine Tree Trail and the Deeside Way for your route. See the trail map for more details.
