Silver Comet Trail (Smyrna to Alabama Border)

One of Atlanta’s top areas for running and biking. This paved trail, following the old railroad bed of the “Silver Comet” train, runs 61 miles from Atlanta’s northern suburb of Smyrna, west to the Alabama border. You’ll have to drive to get there — it’s 11 miles south of Marietta, 15 miles from downtown, and 6 miles from Cumberland. This MAP of the first 20 miles of the trail closest to Atlanta starts off Mavell Rd., and has information on the numerous trailheads.
