Creative Commons: Leon Yaakov

This is a ‘runseeing’ tour of the central part of Baku, taking in some of the city’s major sites and parks. It’s 13 km, but we’ve included a shorter option, below.

Start in Fountains Square, and run east for 1 km through the Molokan Gardens and Sahil Bağı, a small, 19th-century park with ornamental gardens. LEFT on Rəşid Behbudov Küçəsi for 0.7 km, passing the Central Library, to Heydar Aliyev Park, with its statue and fountain. Continue north on Suleyman Rustam Rd. for 1 km. This is a university area, and also passing the U.S. Embassy. The next section is a ~2 km loop around Dədə Qorqud Parkı (home to ADA University and Azerbaijan’s oldest zoo) and Zorge Park. Then, head south for 2 km through the the Azerbaijan University campus, passing Zabitlər Park. Then, RIGHT, headed east for 1.5 k through Füzuli Park. a wide walkway/linear park lined by imposing buildings, with fountains & statues.

The next section is nearly 2 km north-south through Central Park, (Mərkəzi Park), a large urban park with sports courts and a long fountain feature leading to a mosque. The final 1 km returning to Fountains Square passes the important Təzə Pir Mosque.

Shorter Option: The route can be shortened by 4 km by eliminating the section up to Dədə Qorqud Park/Zorge Park. Can also eliminate the ~2 km through Central Park.

Add-Ons: Combine with our Old City tour. Also, paths along the Caspian Sea are just south of Fountains Square.
