Baton Rouge, LA

Highland Road Park Course & Oak Hills Neighborhood

Wikimedia Commons

In the southeast section of Baton Rouge, there’s some very nice running in the Highland Road/Oak Hills area. A good place to start is Highland Road Community Park, a large neighborhood park with fields, numerous recreational facilities, and a well-known cross-country running course. The course has 5k, 6k, and 8k loop options. There’s an observatory at the southeast end of the park. Good spot for some hill work!

There’s also some pleasant residential neighborhood running in Village St George, just north of Highland Rd. There are wide streets with sidewalks and set back homes. Even nicer are the wide, quiet, tree-lined streets of the Oak Hills neighborhood, located west of Route 3246.

Essentials
  • Highland Road Park has several loop options on its cross-country course
