CC 2.0

Louisiana State University, founded in 1860, with its large and impressive campus, is a fixture in Baton Rouge. It’s a pleasant run to explore its extensive pedestrian paths, running track, and perhaps combine with the adjacent LSU Lakes.

We suggest starting at the Welcome Center off Highland Rd. Begin by doing the 1/2 mile loop of the Parade Ground, then head west on the main academic quad toward the stadium and athletic fields, where there’s also a great running track. Enjoy the additional paths, generally staying south of Aster St. Pleasant pedestrian paths, some nice buildings, and lovely live oak trees.

Add-Ons: At the east end of campus, combine with our LSU Lakes route. And a mile west of the athletic complex is the Skip Bertman Drive Levee Trailhead (use Skip Bertman Dr.), and the Levee Bike Path.

Essentials
  • Can easily put together 3-4 miles on campus, with good add-ons
  • Welcome Center is a good starting point
