LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens

CC 2.0: Paul Lowry

For some tranquil off-road running amidst lovely plants and greenery, we recommend a visit to the Botanic Gardens at the LSU AgCenter (also known as the Burden Gardens). Squeezed between Perkins Rd. and I-10 in the western part of the city, this combination museum, botanical garden, and arboretum boasts 5 miles of ‘Trees and Trails’ paths that are suitable for running. We particularly love the live oaks. The paths wind through the Burden Woods, Rose Garden, Children’s Garden, All-America Selections Garden, Stone Camellia Collection, Crowder Camellia Collection, Herb Garden, Tropical Garden, Memory Garden, Barton Arboretum, Oak Grove, StoryWalk loop, and Windrush Gardens.

See this map for trail details. NOTE: there are set opening hours, and runners aren’t encouraged during peak times. Information
