Standing Boy Creek State Park

Google Street View

Standing Boy Creek State Park is among the best options for trail running near Columbus. The 1,580-acre property, which lies on the shore of Lake Oliver, is located 10 miles north of town. There are several miles of trails that are popular for hiking/trail running and mountain biking. There are some trails that are hiker/runner only. Notes: Keep an eye out for mountain bikers! Also, the park is open to hunting in season. Best to consult the website for info.

The network of trails is ever-expanding. This map is an excellent resource for information on the various loop options and level of difficulty. Even the easier trails have rocks, roots, and other terrain variations. One of the better options for running is the 3.6 mile Bimini Trail (shared use). Runners can also use some of the improved roads in the park.
