Vasa Kellakiou – Challenging Trail Run

Michael Rivers

A challenging trail run, but rewarding for its great views of majestic mountains as far as Troodos and the beautiful blue Limassol sea on clear days. This is raw nature trail running at it’s best.

This is a hilly route on wide Jeep type trails with a hard rocky flat surface, but runnable on regular road running shoes. The start location is in a beautiful small park with mountain views and benches that are perfect for a picnic. Many course markings can be found en route left behind from the Cyprus Ultra Marathon, but programming your GPS is highly recommended. The Limassol Running Club runs these routes almost every Sunday morning year round. The club runners are very friendly and welcoming to all and everyone speaks English. After your run, we recommend a visit to the historical traditional village coffee shop — the locals are extremely welcoming and most of the villagers speak English.

Note: the trail is exposed, so wear proper clothing and bring water, as temperatures can reach 40C in summer.
