We originally had a pleasant, 3 km waterfront route from the Convention Center (Fiera) east to Boccadasse, running along the Corso Italia. However, there’s been a major project to expand and improve the waterfront in Genoa, with significantly improved pedestrian access, expanded public spaces, and a new urban park in the Waterfront di Levante. NEW! It’s now possible to run for 5.5 km on a dedicated waterfront path between Porto Antico and Boccadasse. It’s a festive scene the whole way, and there are great water views.
Start at Porto Antico, a historic harbor area featuring an aquarium, museums, and a vibrant public plaza. Head east on the wide waterfront path (Passeggiata Corso Italia), enjoying the open Ligurian Sea views. At 2km is the Waterfront di Levante — a new urban park next to the Fiera convention center, designed by the noted architect Renzo Piano. There are modern residential buildings, a marina, and a renovated 1960s era sports stadium. Continue east, passing the Giardini Gilberto Govi, to the end of the path in Boccadasse — a colorful fishing village with a small pebble beach. There are numerous gelateria!
