Beigua UNESCO Global Geopark

Courtesy: Parco Naturale Regionale del Beigua

Beigua UNESCO Global Geopark is the largest protected natural area in Liguria. There are some 500 km of trails available for numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and trail running. There’s something for everyone, with a great variety of terrain, from coastal paths to mountain trails, ridge routes with panoramic views, and some forested sections. The park website has excellent information on the trails, with downloadable GPX maps. For runners, we recommend choosing from these Nordic Walk Trails, or these Nature Paths, some of which are suitable for walking/running, rather than hiking. Top recommendations:

Voltri-Varazze Coastal Path. 16 km, paved dedicated path along the water. Spectacular. See separate route.

Deiva Forest. A hilly, 11 km loop along a quiet, long dirt road. Part of the trail is in the woods, and some sections have wonderful views. 300m elevation gain. MAP
