Coombabah Lakelands, 15 km north of Gold Coast, is a favorite running spot for its prevalence of koalas and kangaroos. Runners can jog amongst these iconic Australian marsupials on marshy boardwalks and sandy double track through dense forest. There are several kilometers of trails to choose from, but one of the best routes is to combine the “Koala Trail” and the “Melaleuca Track.” Starting from the Koala trailhead, this lollipop-shaped loop is 3.5 miles. The park is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm.
