Kingston, Ontario

Parks and Marshland Route

Creative Commons

We’ve put together this lovely route in the western part of Kingston combining a small section of waterfront, a couple of parks, and scenic marshlands. If done out and back, it would be ~10 km, with some good add-on options. A good part of this is along the Kingston section of the long-distance Rideau Trail, which travels all the way to Ottawa!

Start at the waterfront at the Mural Land Wall, and head west into the open terrain of Lake Ontario Park, enjoying the water views. Cross King St. (1.7 km mark), heading into the Marshlands Conservation Area, with the golf course on your right. The 2 km through this area offers some nice water views. There’s a ~1 km section along Queen Mary Rd. (good sidewalk), crossing Bath St., picking up the trail again, to the northern end of Grenville Park. For a good add-on, run the 1 km Helen A Henderson loop in Grenville Park.

Add-Ons: Waterfront Trail, headed east of Lake Ontario Park.

Essentials
  • Up to 5.3 km (3.3 miles) one-way. Grenville Park loop adds 1 km
  • Flat
  • Mural Wall/Lake Ontario Park
