Exploring the paths around Temple Newsam and the adjacent Skelton and Rothwell country parks is one of our favorite runs in the Leeds area. Temple Newsam is a grand historic residence with extensive grounds, gardens, and a running track. Also parkrun sites.

Start near the car park. Our route follows the wide, tree-lined allée path for 1 mile toward Skelton Country Park. Cross the M1 into Skelton Country Park, whose main path is a 1.5 mile loop around Skelton Lake. Take the Skelton Bridge across the river to continue south into Rothwell Country Park, which has 1 mile loop along wide, gravel paths through fields and meadows. 470-acre park in the southern part of Leeds that's a terrific spot for an easy trail run. There are 3-4 miles of rolling hill trails though fields, woods, and around a small lake. There's also a running track at the northeast end of the park.
Combining the paths around the open green space of Horsforth Hall Park with the trails through the wooded Hunger Hills makes for a fun, hilly run in the northeastern section of Leeds. There's a running track at Leeds Trinity University.
