Susobana River

Close to the central residential area of Nagano, runners can create a nice route along the Susobana River. Start from Saigawa Kasenjiki Park where the Susobana flows into the Sai, and head north along the riverbank. Pass the Susobana Ayatori Bridge, then turn LEFT to cross over the next bridge. Turn immediately RIGHT to continue up the west bank of the Susobana. This paved multi-use path continues along the water for about 4 km one-way. It’s not the most scenic route in the city, but nevertheless a good choice for a flat, straightforward pavement run that’s free from traffic.

Essentials
  • Up to 8 km (5 miles) out and back
