There’s some quite nice running in Fürth, a small city contiguous with Nuremberg. Near the center, one can put together a nice run combining Stadtpark, paths along the river, and nearby sports fields and a running track. We’ve mapped a 6k route, with options for more.

Start at Stadtpark or one of the parking lots just north of it. A loop of the medium-sized park, which features pleasant interior and riverside paths, including two small lakes, is ~2 km. Combination of open and wooded. Then take the small bridge across to the north side of the river and do a jaunt along Pappelsteig — a gorgeous, tree-lined path. Then head north along the Pegnitz River, crossing Erlanger St. to enjoy the Sportanlage sports fields and running track. Then return to the start.

Add-Ons:  Continue north for another ~1 km along the river, and in the fields around the Kapellenruh. Can also combine with our route along the Pegnitz toward Nuremberg.

Essentials
  • Up to 5.6 km (3.6 miles) one-way
  • Stadtpark area
  • Parking lot just north of Stadtpark; Jakobinenstr. Train Station across from Stadtpark
