McKinley Beach Hill Run

Google Street View

Running in the McKinley Beach area is a good opportunity to get some hill training in on quiet roads with great views. McKinley Beach is a marina/beach area as well as a burgeoning residential community. Starting at the Marina, enjoy running on some of the area’s roads, which climb into the hillside, with views to the lake and surrounding countryside.

One good 10k loop is to start at the Marina, do the ~4k loop around Shalyler Rd., and then run on McKinley Rd. for 2 km out to the Reservoir — good water views and hills! Rolling hills, 222m gain.

Add-On: Run down to McKinley Landing Park, using McKinley Rd. or Dubbin/Dewdney Rd.

Essentials
  • Mapped route is 10 km (6.2 miles), with options for longer & shorter
  • Hilly! 222m (729 feet)
  • Sutherland Bay Park, off Ellis St.
