Paris, France (Central)

Bois de Boulogne (16e)

In the 16th Arrondissement. This is the loveliest, shadiest place for running in the heart of Paris. You’ll find hundreds of fellow joggers on a nice evening. There are some 35 miles of trails in the park. There are long, tree-flanked allées, 28 km of horse-riding trails, and 15 km of cycling/multi-use paths (including a 9.2- km discovery track and a 3.6-km-long loop around Longchamp racecourse). It’s hard to proscribe a particular run, but a couple of good options are to run around Lac Inferieur and Lac Superieur (5k). Then there’s the option to head toward the northwestern part of the park, using any one of a number of paths. On the kiosk at all trail intersections, look for the 10k “Tour de Longeur”, most easily accessible from the Port de La Muette entrance. Our route starts at the Arc de Triomphe just for kicks. Easily accessible by Metro. Combine with Parc St. Cloud for an even longer run.

Shorter Option save two miles by starting at Port Dauphine
10k in the Park: follow “Tour de Longeur” from the Port de la Muette entrance

Map of Bois de Boulonge

Bois de Boulogne is home to Parkrun, a free group 5k held every Saturday morning. You can see the course map and learn more here.

Add-Ons: At the southern end of the park, is a large athletic complex that includes Roland Garros Stadium (site of the French Open), Le Parc des Princes stadium, and other stadiums and sports facilities. There’s a good perimeter road/path around Le Parc des Princes that’s popular with runners.
