The Dique do Tororó lake sits in the center of Salvador, between the Dois de Julho and Brotas neighborhoods. This former dam, built for defense during the 17th century, is famous for its orixá sculptures and night lighting. There are also nice brick pathways encircling the waterfront. Runners can begin from any bus stop along Avenida Vasco da Gama, but the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova is a popular landmark. A full loop around the Dique do Tororó is 2.6 km, so runners who are used to significant length may want to run a few laps.
