Modeled after one of the premier architectural features of Seville, the Plaza is both an artistic and architectural delight. With nine ornate domed buildings and clock towers, elaborate fountains, 40 pieces of outdoor sculpture and statuary, pastel stucco walls and tiled roofs, the very best running routes of Kansas City spin outward from the Plaza.
There is some terrific running in the Plaza area:
- Mill Creek Park/Bush Creek Waterway to Jacob Loose Park
- Trolley Track Trail
- Bush Creek Loop
Mill Creek Park/Bush Creek Waterway to Jacob Loose Park
We have mapped a 4-mile route starting at Mill Creek Park, then along the Brush Creek Waterway, and at the Ritz-Carlton, comes up a steep, 3 block incline to reach Jacob L. Loose Park.
Mill Creek Park: Mill Creek Park is bordered by a 1.2 mile asphalt path, and dotted with exercise stations.
Brush Creek Waterway: A below-street level .75 miles concrete ribbon that winds along both sides of an 80-foot-wide canal with a tiered waterfall at the west end.
Jacob L. Loose Park: Four blocks south of the Plaza, Loose Park has a trio of running paths including paved 1.05, and 1.25, mile inner loops, a grassy 1.5 mile circuit that traces the outer perimeter, and several challenging uphills.
