Mount Douglas Park & Cordova Bay

Mount Douglas Park offers some great running opportunities just north of the city in the Cordova Bay area. At nearly 500 acres, there’s something for every runner here! A particular — and fun — challenge is the run up to the summit on Churchill Rd., climbing nearly 500 feet in just short of 1 mile, with 10-12% grades! The road is closed to cars in the mornings!

Other good options include the Whittaker Trail, which skirts the perimeter of the park for 4 km. Combine with the Irvine Trail to reach the summit, as an alternative to the road.

We also enjoy running in the Cordova Bay neighborhood near the park. Pleasant residential streets. Use /Ferndale/Grandview/Ash/Cordova Bay Rd. as the anchor, and jaunt down to the waterside points, parks, and beach.
