Seestadt Aspern is a new area under construction in Donaustadt, the easternmost district in Vienna. It is one of the largest ongoing urban development projects in Europe. The area is being built with wide, pedestrian and bike-friendly streets. The best running route in this burgeoning area is on paths around Aspern Lake.
A loop around the lake, including some ancillary paths, is ~3 km. There are good views of the lake most of the way. The paths are a combination of paved and gravel.
Add-Ons: There’s a growing network of streets being built in the area. Most of them have good sidewalks or cycle paths alongside, so it’s easy to add to the lake loop.
