This is a ‘runseeing’ tour of downtown’s most important landmarks. At the north end of the route is the Georgia Institute of Technology Campus, which can be combined or run separately. Starting at one of the main hotels downtown just east of I-85, this run includes a tour of Centennial Olympic Park, The World of Coca-Cola, CNN, The Georgia Dome, Aquarium, the College Football Hall of Fame, Philips Arena, the Castleberry Hill historic neighborhood, and Georgia Tech. Look for fun sites, galleries, shops, and restaurants on Baker St., Luckie St., and Peters St.  Octane Coffee and EBrik Coffee are popular with runners. Note: surprisingly hilly!  For guided running tours in Atlanta, we recommend our friends at Go! Running Tours.

Downtown Atlanta Tour

Start downtown at the Marriott Marquis, off Baker St. Head west, to Centennial Olympic Park, which is also the location of the The World of Coca-Cola, CNN, the Georgia Dome, & Aquarium. Do a jaunt around there and then south past the CNN Center and along Walker St. for ~1 mile. Turn around at Greensferry Ave. and head north along Peters St./Ted Turner Dr. For the next section, optional run for ~1 mile north along Luckie St. to Tech Parkway, with an optional addition around the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Georgia Tech Campus

Add the Georgia Institute of Technology campus to our Atlanta tour or run it separately! The campus is just north of North Ave. and west of I-85. It spans more than 400 wooded acres and features  15,000 trees, so it’s a green oasis in downtown Atlanta’s urban jungle. It’s ~1 mile long and ~1 mile wide. There’s an excellent network of pedestrian paths, and the Griffin Running Track at the northeast edge of campus.
