Any tourist to Sarajevo would be remiss not to check out the city’s stunning Old Town. Here you’ll find pedestrian-only streets lined with shops and exotic architecture. This part of town can be quite busy during the day, so it’s best to go early in the morning if you’re going for speed. Otherwise, take it slow and take in the sights. Stick to the area between Obala Kulina bana, Branilaca Sarajeva, and Ferhadija for tourist attractions like City Hall, the Latin Bridge where Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, the Sebilj Fountain, Baščaršija market, the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Clock Tower, and more. We’ve mapped a 3.5 km Old Town loop for reference, but we recommend exploring side streets and alleys, or combining with a jaunt along the river for more distance.
