The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a ‘destination’ run, known for its scenic, rolling hill trails through Mojave Desert Grassland habitat, with views to the San Gabriel Mountains. It is particularly special during blossom season (mid-February to May), with a variety of wildflowers creating a mosaic of color that changes daily. In addition to the famous poppies, there owl’s clover, lupine, goldfield, cream cups, and coreopsis. The park is located a bit over an hour’s drive from Los Angeles or Bakersfield.

For running, there are eight miles of trails, an interpretive center, and shaded picnic tables.

Notes: Admission fee required. Can be very windy, especially in spring.
