This run might not win awards for best scenery, but it’s unique: Cours Jean Jaurès is the longest sraight avenue in Europe! It runs for 7.8 km from just below the Bastille south to Le Pont de Claix. This has Paris beat — between the Place de la Concorde” and Le Defence is only 5.8 kilometers and the famous Avenue Champs Elyséesis only 2 km. Cours Jean Jaurès is wide — 50m — and is mostly tree-lined, with ample room for running. That said, some sections are pleasant — traffic-calmed, with ample room for bikes & pedestrians and only one lane of traffic in each direction, while particularly the southern end is a bit more highway-like (though still ample sidewalk). Pro Tip: Run one-way and take the tram back!

The street starts just below the Bastille. South of Bl. Maréchal Foch (km 1.3), the road turns into Curs de la Libération et du Général de Gaulle, then back to Cours Jean Jaurès at km 4, and finally C Saint André toward the southern end. A nice detour is Parc des Champs-Élysées, just south of the D58 (km 3).  It’s ~1 km around the park on lovely tree-lined paths, and there’s also a running track.

Add-Ons: Can do part of this route, and combine with our Grenoble ‘runseeing‘ tour, just to the south.
