This is a tour of three pleasant green spaces in the southeastern part of Cambridge: Coldham’s Common, the Barnwell Preserve, and Cherry Hinton Hall Park. About 2/3 of it is within the greens and off-road paths, with 1/3 being road connections between the spaces. Note that there are marked 2 km loops of Coldham’s Common and Cherry Hinton Hall, designed by the Cambridge City Council. Coldham’s Common is the site of a weekly Parkrun.

For our route, start at Coldham’s Common (Center for Computing History, Cambridge United facility, leisure facility), and run southeast along the trails for 1 mile to the Barnwell Preserve. Stay on the trails east of the water, passing the David Lloyd gym, and follow into the village of Cherry Hinton. Take High St. heading west to Cherry Hinton Hall Park, which has ~1 mile of trails and lovely lawns. For the return, head out of the northern end of the park onto the trail alongside Cherry Hinton Brook (west side of the ponds), then onto Brooks Rd. and the Barnwell/Coldham’s trails for the return.
Add-Ons: Ditton Meadows & Stourbridge Commins are 1 mile north of Coldham’s, using the Ditton Walk Path.
