The Bellville area, to the east inland of Cape Town, is home to the Wietse se Run running group, which hosts a popular running series on Saturday mornings. Group runs depart from Willowbridge center on Tygervalley Road in Bellville, starting at 5:30 am in the summer and 6:30 am in the winter. The run includes 6 km, 12 km, and 20 km out and back options, or a 29 km loop route. There are drink and snack tables along the way. See the Wietse se Run Facebook Group for updates and information.
The out and back begins heading south on Carl Cronje Drive and turns RIGHT onto Frans Conradie Drive just after Jack Muller Park. From there, use Salisbury Street and 18th to connect to Uys Krige Drive. Turn RIGHT onto Plattekloof Road, and turn around near the SAPS Forensic Science Lab.
The loop route starts the same way, then continues up Plattekloof, LEFT onto Gert van Rooyen Ave, and RIGHT onto Giel Basson Drive. Where Basson ends, bear LEFT onto Sienna Drive, and turn RIGHT onto Tygerberg Valley Road (M13). Continue on Tygerberg Road where it becomes M31, then bear RIGHT on Jip de Jager Drive. Bear LEFT on Van Riebeeckshof Road to return back to the start on Cronje.
Special thanks to our friend Erica Madeleyne for her help with this route!
