Other Routes in Cape Town, South Africa
Trace the footsteps of Van Riebeeck, the founder of Cape Town, and see the major landmarks within the city.
The Sea Point Promenade is probably Cape Town’s most popular route. The path between Granger Bay and Bantry Bay is flat, surrounded by green grass and stunning sea views. 9 km out and back.
A nice companion to the Sea Point Promenade just to the west, the V&A Waterfront is a more developed commercial and residential area on a working historic harbor. There are numerous paths and boardwalks. Marked 2.5 km and 5 km loops.
Camps Bay beach is one of the nicest in the Cape Town area. It is known for its backdrop of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles, which are cliffs on this side of the mountain that form an undulating series of buttes.
Lion’s Head lies between Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Lion’s Head peak forms part of a dramatic backdrop to the city of Cape Town and is part of the Table Mountain National Park.
A great option to run on a mainly car free road in the Table Mountain area, with great views. The pedestrian only section starts just past the cable car station and features great views and rolling hills.

This city park is great if you want to zone out and get great views of Table Mountain National Park. Rondebosch Commons is in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, about 10km southeast of the city center.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden lives up to its reputation as the most beautiful garden in Africa and one of the great botanic gardens of the world.
About 30 minutes south of the city center, Muizenberg beach is considered to be the birthplace of surfing in South Africa. The route follows the Muizenberg — St. James Walk, passing breaking waves, fishermen, surfers and, if you are lucky, whales.
If you are in search of epic views, running to the top of Chapmans Peak will not disappoint.
Home of the Wietse se Run Saturday morning group run. 6 km, 12 km, 20 km, and 29 km options.
A suburb that is also a wine producing area has a greenbelt consisting of numerous interconnected trails. Some great for running, others a bit more rugged. The Alphen Trail is among the prettiest and most popular.
