Harlem Valley Rail Trail

©robertrodriguezjr.com

The Harlem Valley Rail Trail is a great opportunity for a long off-road run in the eastern part of the Hudson Valley. The paved trail follows an old rail line, through woods and past farms. There are 15 miles of trail currently open, in two separate sections: 10.7 miles from Wassaic to Millton and 5 miles from Under Mountain Rd. in Boston Corners to Copake. Note that the Wassaic to Millerton section is a gradual climb, headed north.

The 8-mile gap between Millerton and Under Mountain Rd. is under development and scheduled to open in September 2020. This new section will pass through spectacular wetlands. There are longer term plans to complete another 18 miles north to Chatham  — keep checking back with the trail website!
