Asano River Paths

Creative Commons 1.0: Daderot

There are some paths along the Asano River, adjacent to the Kazuemachi Chaya & Higashi Chaya districts, known for their teahouses, restored 18th-century wooden houses, & shops selling gold-leaf crafts.

There are concrete paths along both sides of the narrow river headed south from the Asanogawa Bridge as far as Tagamihonmachi Asagiri Park, up to 5.6 km one-way. The river is narrow and we wouldn’t call this route especially scenic. The paths are not as developed as those along the Sai River and can be a bit rough in sections. We recommend the west side to the Kenrokuayumi Bridge, and then the east side for the remainder.

Add-On: Our Kanazawa Castle Park & Garden route is 1 km west.

Essentials
  • Up to 5.6 km (3.5 miles) one-way
  • 40m (130 feet) one-way, headed south (gradual uphill)
  • Asanogawa Bridge
