This is our guide to running in the Berlin Outskirts, generally outside the A100 Highway. There’s a wonderful number of landscaped & forest parks, river paths, and palace/estate grounds in Berlin’s outer boroughs of Charlottenburg-Nord, Spandau, Reinickendorf, & other districts near near the Berlin-Brandenburg border. We also have several routes in Potsdam, including the iconic Sanssouci Palace/Park.
One of the highlights of running beyond central Berlin is the significant number of extensive forest parks (forst), notably: Jungfernheide, Grunewald, Tegel, Spandauer, & Westlicher Düppeler. Notable parks for running include Volkspark Jungfernheide, and in Potsdam Park Babelsberg & Sanssouci Park. There are also several routes along the Havel River, and the area around Tegeler See (Lake). We’ve also included a route near Berlin’s new Brandenburg International Airport, for those staying out there. For more routes in the Berlin area, see our guide for Berlin: Central.
Most of the routes are accessible via Berlin’s fantastic system of subways, trains, and trams.
