This is a guide to running in Brittany, the peninsula in western France that winds around from Saint-Nazaire in the south to Saint-Malo in the north. Our guide for running in Brittany is mainly focused on scenic coastal locations, as well as the larger cities: Quimper, Brest, and Brittany’s capital, Rennes.

Some of the best places to run in Brittany, by theme:

Seafront Promenades: Saint-Nazaire; Pornichet to Pouliguen; Cap Fréhel; Dinard; Saint-Malo.
River Paths: Rennes; Auray; Quimper; Laurient
Runnable Coastal Trails: Le Croisic; Quiberon; Trémazan; Côte de Granit Rose
Parks: Rennes, Saint-Nazaire; Vannes; Brest
Beaches: Le Pouliguen; Ébihens; Saint-Malo
Major Parks with Trails: Brière Natural Regional Park; Parc naturel régional d’Armorique

A few Brittany running notes: Tides are significant and affect some of the routes; summer days are deliciously long, so enjoy evening runs!; there are lovely, quiet interior farm roads for running; and the ‘Bike Velo’ signs are a helpful way to find quiet, low-trafficked roads.
