This is the Great Runs guide to the best places to run along England’s southeast coast — the area stretching from Worthing to Margate in the counties of West Sussex, East Sussex, and Kent. Our focus here is mainly on the coastal cities and towns, where we’ve mapped nearly 50 miles of routes on dedicated seafront promenades along the Channel coast. These are incredibly scenic paths, with wonderful water views. We’ve also included some favorite spots where there are scenic, runnable paths atop the cliffs, in Seaford, Hastings, and of course the White Cliffs of Dover. For other routes nearby, see our guides to the Isle of Wight, Hampshire County, and other sections of the Southwest Coast.
Runners should note that many of these paths are exposed, and this being the coast of England, be prepared for rain, wind, and cool temperatures. Note that the non-paved paths can get muddy!
