Located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Winston-Salem is known for its history in the tobacco industry and also as a college town. The downtown area has undergone a revitalization in recent years. There’s a nice variety of running options in Winston-Salem. Use the Salem Creek Greenway as the anchor for running in Winston-Sale, as it runs through Old Salem and connects to the Salem Lake Trail. The best neighborhood running in Winston-Salem is the area around the Reynolda Historic District and Wake Forest University. North of town, we recommend Historic Bethabara Park and the Muddy Creek Greenway, while south of town in Clemmons, there’s good running in the area around Tanglewood Park.
