Yellagonga Regional Park is a large and leafy oasis located 20 km north of Perth. There’s a wonderful variety of running in Yellagonga Regional Park, making it a great destination run. There are 25+ km of trails, including paths around two lakes, and trails through pine forests and around wetlands. We’ve mapped three distinct loops, which can be mixed & matched in various ways.
Lake Goollelal Loop. At the southern end of the park, this is an easy & straightforward ~5 km lake loop. There’s a paved multi-use path the whole way around. In some sections, there are dirt paths closer to the lake. A good place to start is the car park off Lakeway Dr. at the northeast end of the lake. Note that for most of the way, there aren’t lake views. The terrain is a mix of open/scrub and some pine forest. INFO ROUTE MAP
- Connection to Beenyup Swamp Boardwalk trail: A paved path runs for ~3 km, connecting to the trails around the swamp & wetlands.
Beenyup Swamp Boardwalk. There are several km of trails around this swamp and wetlands area. A mix of surfaces, including a long wooden boardwalk. Nice views and wildlife viewing. A loop of these trails is ~4 km. Connections to Lake Joondalup (~2 km), or Lake Goollelal (~3 km). ROUTE MAP
