Cape Recife

This area to the south of the Summerstrand boardwalk and Nelson Mandela University includes some of the best oceanside views Port Elizabeth has to offer. The trails begin just past the Pine Lodge Resorts and Conference Center, off Marine Drive. There is a paved road that runs south for 2 km to the Cape Recife Lighthouse. Another dirt path loops around ponds, a bird hide, and an observation post near the former World War II army camp. We’ve mapped a 7.5 km route that hits the top sights, but runners can also rack up more mileage along the beach or Marine Drive.
