Mapio

Due to its central location in Port Elizabeth’s Mill Park, the Lower Guinea Fowl Trail is a popular nature preserve route on the Baakens River, popular with hikers and wildlife viewers. The dirt path has some hills and rough patches, but overall it’s a pleasant trail run as well. There are 7.5 km of trail through the Baakens River valley, providing routes of up to 15 km out and back. Runners can start either from Settlers Park in the east or Glen Hurd Drive in the west. There are also access points to shorten the run at Target Kloof and 9th Avenue. The path is well-signed and easy to follow. Runners can catch great views of the Baakens, and may even spot one of the guinea fowl for which the trail is named! Preserve Information.
