Timoleague to Courtmacsherry Walkway

This is a pleasant run along a tidal estuary following the former rail line between Timoleague and Courtmacsherry. The walkway follows the R601 road. Timoleague is a cute coastal village on the southern coast between Kinsale and Clonakilty. Start in the center, near the Timoleague Friary and take the well-waymarked walkway toward Courtmacsherry. Some parts of the route are wooded, others have open views of the estuary. NOTE: The mapped route follows the road but the walkway is separate.

Additional Running Options in the Area:

• There’s some additional coastal road in Courtmacsherry, with a sidewalk. Also, the R601 road follows the estuary around to Maryborough and even further, and has lovely views. There’s no sidewalk/shoulder, so use caution.
• Another nice route in the area, more of a trail run, is the Courtmacsherry Coast Loop. Lovely coastal views from this headland trail that goes to Woodpoint Light and further toward Broadstrand.
